Meya’s Lakes Region, New Hampshire Senior Photo Session

Meet Meya! She heard about me through her friend, and 2016 Senior SpokesModel, Gabby. She reached out to me and I knew from her laid back personality we were going to have a blast and really make some great pictures. Meya wanted the complete senior photography experience, AND she was already familiar with my awesome makeup artist, Carissa, so we made sure to meet up at Carissa’s spa for some gorgeous makeup and hair perfecting before heading out for her photos. Meya is an awesome athlete and LOVES the outdoors so we headed up at her family’s lake house.

So what did I learn about Meya – besides the fact that she is a stunning model? This girl is a dedicated lacrosse and basketball player that has an awesomely eclectic music taste – or as she told me, “You can’t compare Bon Jovi with Beyonce it just doesn’t work!”. Truer words have never been spoken – but could you imagine how epic that pairing would be at the next MTV Music awards?!?!? Someone needs to get to work on that. And lastly that this girl is a dedicated, hard worker with goals…one day you’re going to call her Dr. Meya (PhD). I’m so glad we took the time to have fun and play before the hardcore studying and future planning starts. Check out some more about Meya and see some of our favorite photos from her session!

What are you looking forward to in your Senior year?
This year I am mostly looking forward to start my own path and create the life I have always wanted for myself.

How do you spend your free time?
I spend my free time playing lacrosse and hanging out with friends, while of course getting my school work done.Laconia_High_School_Senior_Photos_5

College you plan to attend? Do you have any plans on what you think you’ll study?
Right now there are too many options to even narrow down! But one of my favorite schools so far is University Of New England. I’m planning to study Physical Therapy and work my way towards a doctorate degree.Laconia_High_School_Senior_Photos_3

What is special about your high school?
My high school is special because there is something for everyone to be apart of and  you can feel just as welcome on a sports team as you are in book club.Laconia_High_School_Senior_Photos_1

What’s your favorite quote and why?
My favorite quote is from Dr seuss and is “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”  This is because it was always the mindset I have had.Laconia_High_School_Senior_Photos_6

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I have received is probably to live my life how i want and not what others think I want.Laconia_High_School_Senior_Photos_4

Meya it was such an absolute pleasure to take your photos. I know you are going to do awesome next year – and let me know when you’ve got your doctorate! No doubt by that time I’ll need the skills of a Physical Therapist from all the years of photography!

Belmont NH Senior Photos | Meet Nina!

Okay I am WAAAAY behind on blogging. I totally get it. But be kind. October, November, and December for a photographer is a bit like April for an accountant (and it’s super fun when you have both of those professions in one house). I just got in from a chilly session and decided the best way to warm up was to throw back to an awesome session we did with Nina early this fall. Ok first thing to know is that Nina is a competitive dancer who plans to study dance and psychology in college. The second thing to know is that she is one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met. And third…third is that she is DROP. DEAD. GORGEOUS.

Nina is really into the country/rural look, and wanted a more rustic feel for her senior photos. Luckily for me she had the best idea for a location. She used to go to summer camp at Canterbury Shaker Village and it held such great memories for her, so she knew pretty early on that she wanted to focus her session there. She had some great outfits she brought along, and paired up with the buildings and scenery – she just popped. Take a look at some of our favorites:

What are your goals for the future?
My goals for the future are to help children who have a tough life build a better future. I would also like to work at Disney World as Princess Jasmine. (Photographer’s Note: Yup. Pretty sure you’d get that job in a heartbeat).belmont_senior_photo_6

What has been your favorite high school memory so far?
My favorite memory in high school so far has been when my school hosted a unified basketball jamboree, and I was able to participate in it. belmont_senior_photo_4

How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as kind and fun loving.belmont_senior_photo_1

What is your favorite fashion trend?
Pairing ripped jeans with low cut booties.belmont_senior_photo_7

What do you want to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as someone who made a difference in someone’s life, even if it’s just one person. (ME TOO ME TOO!!!)belmont_senior_photo_3

Senior year can be soooooo busy – how do you spend your free time?
I spend my free time dancing or spending time with my family and friends.

What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is “Do it big, do it right, and do it with style.” -Fred Astaire.

Nina – you did Fred Astaire proud with your senior photo session. You absolutely brought it and I had such a fantastic time photographing you!

If your school has a later cutoff date for your senior photos and you haven’t taken them yet – or maybe you didn’t like the way they turned out – you still have time to book a session with me! Give me a call or email carey@careyhoughphotography.com and let’s get you some photos you will absolutely LOVE!

Eric and Kristina’s Vivid Fall Wedding in Northampton, MA

Do you have your life vests on yet?  Is everyone prepped in their canoes/kayaks/arks? Here in New England, and in Western Massachusetts in particular, are just getting hammered with this rain.  While we don’t need it (meanwhile Texas could surely use it), it is allowing me to get caught up on lots of things I’ve been putting off – like organizing my hard drive for one.  If you are just starting out in photography, be it for pleasure or profession, set down how you will organize things from day one.  Find a system that works and stick with it.

During my clean up/clean out I found some images I captured at another wedding I assisted Jenn at Jennifer Bullock Photography with.  I was on hand to assist with, and not specifically second-shoot, this Western Massachusetts wedding but Jenn invited me to shoot since I had my camera with me.  Eric and Kristina were an adorable couple and their families were just so warm and loving.  Kristina completely sparkled, from her beautiful wedding gown all the way to the love for Eric that just radiated from her eyes.  The wedding ceremony was at the serene Pines theater at Look Park in Florence, MA (a village of Northampton, MA).  I love that location – it can very easily be turned into an Enchanted Forest look for wedding or engagement photo sessions and it’s a super fun spot to spend for a family photo session.

As always, thanks again to Jenn Bullock for being an amazing teacher and thanks to the absolutely wonderful Kristina and Eric.  I hope you are having a blissful married life (and hope that the recent bad weather has missed you guys!).  Here are some of my favorite images from the day!
